George O'Connell will read from his poetry onThursday, Oct. 16, at 8 p.m. in the Fillius Events Barn, in the BeineckeStudent Activities Village. The reading is free and open to the public.

O'Connell is the winner of the International Grand Prize in the 1997 AtlantaReview Poetry Competition, the 1997 Bellingham Review 49th ParallelPoetry Awards, and the 1997 Soundpost Press Poetry Prize.

His work has appeared in a variety of publications including The AmericanPoetry Review, The Antioch Review and Chelsea. A collectionof his recent poetry, Inadmissible Evidence, is forthcoming fromSoundpost Press in December.

Currently, O'Connell is a Visiting Assistant Professor of English at HamiltonCollege, where he teaches creative writing and literature.
