Marianne Janack

The most recent issue of Pragmatism Today includes an essay by John Stewart Kennedy Chair of Philosophy Marianne Janack. The article, titled “Why We Need to Think about ‘Home’: Thinking About Rorty’s Cosmopolitanism,” appeared in the issue devoted to Richard Rorty and contemporary American politics.

Janack’s article discusses the tensions in Rorty’s appeal to both anti-anti-ethnocentrism and to cosmopolitanism, centering those discussions in the history of the idea of homes, migration, and a homeland.

The issue is edited by Wojciech Malecki (University of Wroclaw, Poland) and John Giordano (Merrimack College and University of Southern Maine).

The $400 million campaign marked the most ambitious fundraising initiative in the College's history.
