Throughout June, members of the Hamilton community came together and celebrated Pride Month thanks to several campus events hosted by student and staff organizers.

The Days-Massolo Center (DMC) sponsored Pride in the Park picnics each Friday during the month “to provide space for students, faculty, and staff to step away from work and enjoy themselves in a supportive environment,” according to Salwa Sidahmed ’23, a co-chair of this year’s Pride Committee. One of the picnics was held during Reunions in mid-June, when more than 2,500 alumni returned to campus for “One Hill of a Party.”

“My favorite moment of the month was selling the Pride Hamilton baseball hats to alumni during Reunions weekend,” said co-chair Dylan Badillo ’23. “They were all ecstatic to see official Hamilton Pride merch and it was so much fun hearing about all of their differing Hamilton experiences.”

In addition to picnics and movie nights held on campus, a group of 50 students, including Sidahmed and Badillo, took a day trip to New York City so they could participate in NYC Pride on June 26. The trip was made possible thanks to funding from the Gender and Sexuality Union, the College, and the group’s fundraising efforts.

“Many students shared that this was their first ever Pride experience, and it was extremely rewarding to see the amount of joy that came from it,” Sidahmed said. “It was also a wonderful way to wrap up our Pride Month programming for the year.”

In addition to Badillo and Sidahmed, Hamilton’s Pride Month Committee included Carlo Benavides ’23, Matthew Buneta ’25, Nickie Conlogue ’25, Ethan McKellop ’25, Raymond Ni ’24, ALEX Advisor Hannah Stubley ’12, and Director of the DMC Paola Lopez.
