
A.G. Lafley '69, chairman and CEO of Procter & Gamble Co., and a charter trustee of Hamilton College, will address the Hamilton College Wall Street Association on Thursday, Nov. 1, at 5 p.m., at the University Club, 1 West 54th St. in New York. A native of Keene, N.H., Lafley graduated from Hamilton with a bachelor's degree in history, and from Harvard Business School with a master's degree in business administration. Before joining P&G in marketing, he also served in the U.S. Navy for five years.
Lafley held a variety of positions in P&G's laundry and cleaning business before being named group vice president in 1992. In 1995 he was promoted to executive vice president with responsibility for Asia and, in 1999, Lafley was named president of P&G's global Beauty Care business and the North America market development organization. Under his leadership, P&G's North America business achieved all time record high net sales. Lafley was elected chief executive in 2000 and named chairman of the board of directors in July 2002. In 2006, Lafley was honored as CEO of the Year by Chief Executive Magazine.
