Assistant Professor of Government Kira Jumet presented “The Egyptian Elections and the Arab Spring” at Syracuse University on April 19.
Jumet’s research focuses on protest mobilization leading up to and during the 2011 and 2013 Egyptian uprisings, including the relationship between emotions and protest participation.
Last fall she published Contesting the Repressive State: Why Ordinary Egyptians Protested During the Arab Spring. The book provides insight on why and how thousands of Egyptian citizens suddenly took to the streets against the Mubarak regime in January 2011.
