Professor of Government Peter Cannavò discussed the “Ethics of Climate Change” as the third lecture in a series to help area residents understand climate change and the impact it will have on all communities. Organized by the Town of New Hartford Climate Smart Committee, the event was hosted by the New Hartford Public Library on Dec. 17.

The Town of New Hartford is one of more than 200 local governments in New York that have made a commitment to Climate Smart Communities. The New York State program helps registered communities in the development and implementation of plans to mitigate and adapt to climate change at the local level.

Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies Aaron Strong and Douglas Frank, professor of biology at Syracuse University, also participated in the series.

Cannavò will discuss the “Politics of Climate Change” in the final event in the series. The lecture will take place at on Monday, Jan. 7, at 7 p.m., at the New Hartford Public Library.
