Associate Professor of Government Peter Cannavò recently presented a paper at the Western Political Science Association annual meeting in San Francisco. He discussed “Speculative Fiction, the Critique of Transhumanism, and the Inescapability of Limits” as a member of a panel on “Science Fiction and Fantasy as Environmental Critique.”
In addition, Cannavò attended the European Consortium for Political Research Joint Sessions of Workshops in Nicosia, Cyprus, in April. Along with several European political theorists, he co-organized a workshop on how the civic republican tradition can offer insights for environmental politics.
As part of the workshop, Cannavò presented a paper on “Ecological Limits as Promoting Republican Non-Domination.”
