Professor of Government Robert Martin traveled to Vancouver, B.C., to participate in the Western Political Science Association (WPSA) meeting April 13 to 15. The theme for this year’s meeting was “The Politics of Identity, Intergroup Bias, and Conflict and Cooperation.”
As a member of a panel on “The Carceral State,” Martin presented a paper titled “Dissent, not Dissensus: Rancière, Habermas, and Dissentient Democracy.”
He also chaired a panel on “Tocqueville and the American Constitution” and served as a discussant for the “Theories of Democracy” panel.
