Professor of Government Sharon Werning Rivera recently participated in a roundtable discussion at the 50th Annual Convention of the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES) in Boston.
Participants discussed Constraining Elites in Russia and Indonesia: Political Participation and Regime Survival (Cambridge University Press, 2016), a new book published by Grinnell College Associate Professor of Political Science Danielle N. Lussier. Rivera also served as chair and discussant of a panel on “Populism on the Rise.”
In addition, Rivera convened an organizational meeting of the Advisory Board for the Survey of Russian Elites, which is part of a larger project funded by the National Science Foundation.
The international advisory board discussed preparations for the 2020 launch of an eighth wave of interviews with Russian elites on foreign and domestic policy issues. The previous survey was conducted in 2016 with the generous support of Hamilton’s Arthur Levitt Public Affairs Center.
