Naomi Guttman

Professor of Literature and Creative Writing Naomi Guttman read from her work at the Bright Hill Press and Literary Center of the Catskills in Treadwell, N.Y., on Aug. 9. The event was part of the center’s Word Thursdays series.

According to its website, the center’s mission is “is to seek out, study, and collect the work of early and contemporary writers, storytellers, and artists, and to publish, disseminate, and present that work through publications and educational and public programs for the larger community.”

Guttman has published several books of poetry including Wet Apples, White Blood, named Best Poetry Book for 2007 by the Adirondack Center for Writing, and Reasons for Winter, winner of the 1992 A.M. Klein Award in poetry. More recently, Guttman’s 2015 novella-in-verse, The Banquet of Donny & Ari: Scenes from the Opera, was awarded the CNY Book Award in Poetry.
