Daniel Chambliss, the Eugene M. Tobin Distinguished Professor of Sociology, discussed his research on the role of relationships in the college experience in a lecture at New Trier High School in Winnetka, Ill., on March 15. The lecture was sponsored by Family Action Network.
“How College Works: The Primacy of Personal Connection” drew from findings presented in How College Works, written by Chambliss and his former student Christopher Takacs ’05. Published in 2014, the book explores the importance of personal relationships in a successful of college experience.
Chambliss explained how colleges create strong friendship and mentoring bonds, and how students can increase what they gain from their undergraduate experience.
