Professor of Comparative Literature Nancy Sorkin Rabinowitz presented her work on the Hamilton Oneida Prison Education (HOPE) Project at the annual meeting of the Classical Association of the Atlantic States.
In “Philoctetes in the Weight Shack,” Rabinowitz discussed the pleasures and pitfalls of teaching Greek tragedy to the men at the Marcy Correctional Facility. The talk was part of a panel on Activism and Classics and grew from her sabbatical research with the Medea Project: Theater for Incarcerated Women.
