Professor of Religious Studies Heidi M. Ravven has been appointed to the Cabinet of Freedom, the governing board of the National Abolition Hall of Fame and Museum (NAHOF) in Peterboro, N.Y.
NAHOF “honors antislavery abolitionists, their work to end slavery, and the legacy of that struggle, and strives to complete the second and ongoing abolition--the moral conviction to end racism.” It continues the work of Gerritt Smith (1797-1874), a member of Hamilton’s first graduating class, who, along with Frederick Douglas, Harriet Tubman and William Lloyd Garrison, was one of the most important figures in the Abolitionist movement.
