Hamilton Director of Web Content J.D. Ross will be one of five presenters in a session titled "Using the Web to Connect with Alumni" at the Computing Officers Association Western Region Spring Forum at Buffalo State College. The forum will be held on Monday, April 28, from 9:30 a.m. – noon and can be viewed at that time via streaming video.
The panel will share how the five institutions have connected successfully with alumni online. Some of the topics discussed will include online communities, online giving, Web 2.0, job resources, reaching young alumni, affinity groups and e-mail for life. The four other presenters are from St. Lawrence University, Canisius College, Hobart and William Smith Colleges and The College at Brockport. The session will be facilitated by Melissa Meehan, Web administration director at Buffalo State College.
The topic of alumni online engagement is one that Ross has researched extensively. During Volunteer Weekend he presented a session on social networking and the changes coming to the alumni Web site and directory. He has been pursuing both commercial and proprietary network solutions to expand connections between alumni.
