Carl Rubino, the Winslow Professor of Classics, presented a lecture titled “From Mythology to Star Wars” on Feb. 8 at Sierra Nevada College. His discussion focused on the ancient mythological roots of the Star Wars films.
In 2011, Rubino published an article on this topic titled “Long Ago, But Not So Far Away: Another Look at Star Wars and the Ancient World.” He also discussed the films’ roots in mythology in Star Wars: The Legacy Revealed, a 2007 Lucasfilm documentary that aired on the History Channel.
