Carl Rubino, the Winslow Professor of Classics Emeritus, presented “The Pale Student of Unhallowed Arts: Aristotle, Lucretius, and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein” at Virginia Wesleyan College on Nov. 18.
His talk was given as part of a symposium titled “‘O Latest Born and Loveliest Vision Far:’ The Romantics and the Classics.”
William Hutton, Rubino’s former graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin, also presented at the symposium. Hutton is now a faculty member in the classics department at the College of William and Mary.
