Sander Doucette '09 was interviewed regarding his Sylvan Beach research for a Syracuse Post-Standard column titled "Oneida Lake Life."
An economics major, Doucette is conducting a survey of Sylvan Beach's plan to restore its beach. According to the article, "The village's namesake beach has eroded more than 100 feet in the past century. Village officials have won state approval to haul sand dredged from the Erie Canal and spread it out on the beach."
Doucette says the survey results might help Sylvan Beach get money for the project. "If the project finds lots of demand, (the village) could take this to the state level and say, 'Look at this,'" Doucette said in the article.
Doucette is trying to survey as many people as possible who've ever been to Sylvan Beach. If you have visited Sylvan Beach before, please help out by taking the survey at www.sylvanbeachsurvey.com
