SCHANTZ, SCHMIEGEL POWER HAMILTON PAST SKIDMORE


Junior's Michael Schantz and JonSchmiegel combined for 57 points and 34 rebounds, six more caroms than theentire Skidmore team, en route to Hamilton's 93-78 drubbing over the hostThoroughbreds in an Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association game on Tuesdaynight.

The Continentals, who led 38-33 at the half, struggled from behind thethree-point line, connecting on only 1 of 16 attempts. However, the inside gamedominated Skidmore, as Hamilton finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds,including 11 by Schantz. The Continentals were 24 of 33 (73.7%) from thefoul line, while Skidmore was just seven of nine.

In addition to his 29 points, Schantz set a UCAA single-game recordwith his career-high 22 rebounds. Schmiegel added 28 points and 12rebounds, while senior Kevin Thorpe chipped in with 13 points, includingsix of six from the foul line. Lamar Johnson added 10 points and fiveassists, while freshman Jimmy Driggs had nine points and a team,-highsix assists.
