Kyla Gorman '09 was profiled in a story about her senior fellowship in her hometown newspaper, The Weekly Almanac (Honesdale, Pa., 1/7/09). As one of five senior fellows this year at Hamilton, Gorman is exempt from taking a normal course load in the conventional curriculum and spends the year conducting independent study. Like the others she will present a public lecture to the College community at the close of the fellowship year.

According to the article, " Kyla Gorman has been an avid video game player and aspiring novelist all of her life so when the opportunity arose to spend her senior year attempting to publish a book on story lines in video games, it was one she couldn't pass up.

"She said her work focuses on the aspects of decision making in dynamic game play as well as how decisions affect 'player-character empathy.' She hopes her work can someday serve as a basis for other scholarly studies on the medium, of which there are few."
