Hamilton's Department of Theatre will present Shakespeare's As You Like It as its fall theatre production. Performances are Nov. 16-19, at 8 p.m., all in the Minor Theatre. The performance is under the direction of Professor Carole Bellini-Sharp, with lighting design by Bill Burd, costume design by Amy Svoboda and set design by John Pollard.
As You Like It, Shakespeare's delightful romance, transports audiences from the meanness and tensions of competitive daily life to a golden world where shepherds and shepherdesses tend their flocks in sunny valleys, where all wrongs are righted, and every Jack has his Jill. In As You Like It we find a forest of romance and a promise to escape the darkness of daily life, even if only for a few hours. Like fairy tales everywhere, disguises are never penetrated, the beautiful princess and manly hero fall in love at first sight, villains turn to doing good, and happiness and light reign.
Tickets for As You Like It are $5 general admission, $3 students and senior citizens. All seating is general admission. Reservations are suggested as seating is limited. For reservations or more information, call (315) 859-4057.
