Professor of Classics and Africana Studies Shelley Haley recently delivered the plenary lecture for the classics session of the Kentucky Foreign Language Conference. The meeting took place at the University of Kentucky. Her talk was titled “‘Race-ing’ the Romans: Uncovering the Constructs of Race in Ancient Rome.”
Haley also presented an invited talk at Wake Forest University. “‘It’s what he intended’: Translation, Racism and Authorial Intent” was part of the Wake Forest Classics Department’s semester-long series on “Classics Beyond Europe.”
