Jaime Lee Kucinskas.
Associate Professor of Sociology Jaime Kucinskas, with her co-authors, Brian Steensland and Anna Sun,  presented “Situating Spirituality and Asian Religions: A Conversation about the Study of Spirituality and Asian Religions in the Global Age” through the Duke University Center for International and Global Studies on March 2.

They discussed how taking Asian religions into account transforms understandings of what religion and what spirituality are. They also laid out a new sociological research agenda, situating spirituality in institutional, economic, political and national contexts, and accounting for how meso- and macro-level forces shape seemingly individual experiences of sociology within and across groups. Their talk was based on their new book, Situating Spirituality (Oxford University Press).
