Karen Milbourne

Karen Milbourne, curator at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African Art, will deliver the Roehrick Lecture on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 4:30 p.m. in the Wellin Museum of Art’s Overlook room. Her presentation will focus on her scholarship in contemporary African art and her contributing essay to the forthcoming catalog for the museum’s current exhibition, Elias Sime: Tightrope.

Milbourne has been a curator at the National Museum of African Art since May 2008. In 2016, she co-curated Senses of Time: Video and Film-Based Works of Africa, an exhibition which traveled that year to the Wellin Museum. Milbourne studies the arts of western Zambia and contemporary African art.
