Associate Professor of Literature Pavitra Sundar was invited to be the chair and discussant for a recent talk by a fellow scholar of sound and radio, Vebhuti Duggal of Ambedkar University Delhi.
Duggal’s talk, “Becoming a Listener in Mid-Twentieth Century North India,” was part of the British Library’s South Asian seminar series titled “Two Centuries of Indian Print.” Sundar’s comments addressed the theoretical implications of Duggal’s project for sound studies as a field.
The series, which usually takes place in person, is being held on Zoom this year. Sundar said moving the event online “has been a blessing for those of us outside London.” She noted that this event, like other talks in the series, drew audiences from the US, UK, India, and other locales.
