More than 180 Hamilton students participated in HAVOC’s 19th annual MLK Jr. Day of Service on Jan. 21. The students volunteered at 23 different organizations in the Utica, Clinton, Rome and New Hartford communities, and served a combined 555 hours.

Participants installed smoke detectors in Utica homes through the American Red Cross, sorted donations at CNY Veterans Outreach and the Rescue Mission of Utica, visited with residents of the Hazel Carpenter Home, and provided animal care at the Rome Humane Society.

Others cleaned shelves and stacked books at Jervis Public Library and played Bingo with residents of Colonial Park Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.
