Program in Washington students with Alicia Davis Downs ’97 and Michael Dubke ’92.

Students in the Washington Program traveled to Alexandria, Va., on Nov. 11 to meet with Alicia Davis Downs '97, a member of the executive team of Targetpoint Consulting, and Michael Dubke '92, founding partner of Blackrock Group.

Targetpoint is a market research and knowledge management firm widely credited with inventing “microtargeting,” the use of databases and surveys to produce sophisticated targeting and messaging of voters. The Black Rock Group is a strategic communications and public affairs firm offering clients the knowledge and skills to achieve their public policy and communications objectives.

The discussion ranged from the analytics of microtargeting to the content and placement of campaign media. While in Alexandria, the group explored Old Town and enjoyed lunch at the Fish Market.
