Five students spent the Fall Break AXB volunteering at Pathfinder Village, a residential community for individuals with Down syndrome and developmental disabilities in Edmeston, N.Y. The students had the opportunity to interact with the students at Pathfinder in different ways, from playing kickball with the residents to helping them with some career development activities.
The Community Outreach and Opportunity Project (COOP) sponsors community service opportunities, connecting Hamilton students with non-profit agencies in the region.
Hamilton participants were group leaders Grace Friedel ’19 and Elisa Taylor ’20, along with Jackson Dusinberre ’22, Michael Wang ’19, and Fiona Xiang ’22.
The group also worked in the greenhouse on Pathfinder’s campus, while having the opportunity to sample the different foods cooked and produced there. The Hamilton volunteers took a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown on the way back to campus. The trip was overall a success.
