"What a great time!" "I danced all night." "The wagon rides were a nice touch." "The magician was fantastic."

These are just some of the comments made about the summer picnic on August 19. In keeping with the western theme, many attendees donned cowboy hats and other western apparel. They enjoyed horse-drawn wagon rides along the bridle path on the south side of campus provided by Dave and Pam Williams of Endless Trails in Hubbardsville; the sleight-of-hand expertise of Jim Lutz, magician extraordinaire; and a poker tournament won by Karl Kirschner of the Chemistry Department.

The buffet also received rave reviews and included clams, steak, BBQ chicken, veggie burgers, salt potatoes, salads, baked beans and apple crisp a la mode for dessert. Over 25 door prizes donated by local merchants and offices on campus were given away throughout the evening. Uptown Downtown Brown provided the musical entertainment for the dance enthusiasts.

We already have a great idea for next year's event – watch your e-mail and future issues of Around the Hill for details.
