Professor of Government Sharon Werning Rivera recently served as chair and discussant of a panel at the Annual Convention of the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies. The theme of the virtual meeting was “Anxiety and Rebellion.” She organized the panel, titled “New Survey Research on Russian Elites,” in order to present new findings from the 2020 wave of the Survey of Russian Elites (SRE).
The SRE is part of a larger project that Rivera directs as principal investigator. Students in three of her Government courses participated in the 2020 phase of the project, as did four students in her 2020 Levitt Summer Research Group. In addition, Rivera co-authored a policy report titled “Survey of Russian Elites 2020: New Perspectives on Foreign and Domestic Policy” with eight students.
Funding for the 2020 wave of the SRE was provided by the National Science Foundation, Hamilton’s Levitt Public Affairs Center and Office of the Dean of Faculty, and the University of Michigan.
