 Nancy Sorkin Rabinowitz

A presentation by Professor of Comparative Literature and Creative Writing Emerita Nancy Sorkin Rabinowitz is featured in Agamemnon: a performance history. The interactive ebook, co-curated by Fiona Macintosh and Claire Kenward, was created by the University of Oxford’s Archive of Performances of Greek and Roman Drama.

Rabinowitz’s contribution, part of the ebook’s recently released Homecoming chapter, reports on her teaching of Aeschylus’ Agamemnon. It draws on literature classes she taught at local correctional facilities in programs organized by faculty from Hamilton, Colgate University, and Mohawk Valley Community College.

“The connection between coming home from war and coming home from prison was a vital one, showing the continuing relevance of ancient plays,” Rabinowitz said of her teaching.
