Assistant Professor of English Katherine Terrell presented a paper at Natio Scota: The Thirteenth International Conference on Medieval and Renaissance Scottish Language and Literature, held in Padua, Italy.
Titled “‘Lat newir nane sik ane be callit a Scot’: National Identity in Dunbar and Kennedy’s Flyting,” the paper addressed issues of national and cultural identity that emerge in an early 16th century poetic insult-contest that was likely performed before the royal court of Scotland. The conference, which is held every three years, drew scholars from 11 countries.
