William Luce's Tony award-winningplay The Belle of Amherst, featuring New York actress Mary Wadkins,will be performed at Hamilton College on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 8 p.m., in theMinor Theatre. Admission is free and open to the general public.
The Belle of Amherst is a riveting one-woman play that interprets thelife of poet Emily Dickinson. With readings from her poems, letters anddiaries, Luce gives a full portrait of the artist as an often-tortured soul.
Wadkins, performing the role of Emily Dickinson, has been praised by criticsand educators across the country. She has worked in New York, Los Angeles andSan Francisco, and has been nominated twice for "Best Actress" of the year.Her film credits include Crimes and Misdemeanors and American BlueNote.
