There are many benefits to working at Hamilton – paid holidays and vacations, a beautiful campus setting, comfortable offices with nearby parking, college-supplemented health insurance plans and tuition benefits for employees and families. But how about those other "perks" that we sometimes take for granted – or don't know about?  As a service to the many new employees at Hamilton – and as a reminder to the veterans  – we're publishing a list of  the Top 10…

.) No, there's no such thing as a free lunch, but you can eat pretty darn inexpensively on campus. Commons dining hall ($5 for full lunch) including the Sushi bar and made-to-order pasta bar; Chinese food at McEwen; "comfort food" at the Pub, weight watchers meals at the Diner. Cafe Opus:  Lattes and vegetarian lunches and those cookies! New this year, The Howard Diner will open at 8 a.m., Monday-Friday, to offer coffee, bagels, fruit, & pastries. There's also an employee combo deal each day that includes a beverage and a bagel or a pastry. For lunch at the Howard Diner there's a new Soup and Sandwich Combo or Salad and Soup Combo available for $3, Monday-Friday

.)  The close proximity – and excellent reputation – of the Clinton Early Learning Center. Employees receive preference for spots when enrolling their children, ages 18 months to pre-kindergarten.

.) Discount card available in the bookstore that allows you to save 10% at any Barnes & Noble store. Save 15% on in-stock purchases at the College store with your Hamilton ID card.

.) Discounted ticket prices for world-famous performing arts events on campus -- $20 off a season subscription, $5-$6 off per individual event ticket.

.) A plethora of summer sports camps for children, right here on campus. Many offer a discount to employees.

.) After enjoying all the good, inexpensive food on campus, participate in an employee Wellness program – yoga/pilates, noon hour aerobics, Weight Watchers At Work, free use of the Athletic Center facilities. And take advantage of blood drives and flu shot clinics without leaving campus.

.) Use of campus building for events.  During the summer months (late May to mid August ) anyone can rent the Chapel for a wedding ceremony.  Employees of the College and alumni qualify for a reduced rental rate (currently $150 for members of the Hamilton community vs. $ 500  for all others).  HC community members can also hold receptions on campus. Locations for receptions are the Rogers Estate, Bristol and, when available, Commons. Rental fees range from $500-1,000, depending on set up and requirements.

Employees may also use the Backus House, Pavilion or Little Pub for rehearsal dinners, showers and small celebrations during non-academic time. All requests for space during the summer should be made to Danelle Parker in Administrative Services (x. 4372).

.) Take a walk or run through the beautiful Root Glen (what better way to decompress?!)

.) The computer loan program, where the College offers interest-free loans to employees for the purchase of personal computers. Computers can be purchased through the College Store or through outside vendors. Borrowers put down 25% of the cost and can finance the balance – up to $3,200 for three years. Contact Andrea Brown, disbursements manager, for more information (ext. 4884).

.) Professional development seminars on and off-campus, paid for by the College.  The College encourages employees to participate in one or two-day seminars designed to develop basic personal, professional, managerial, supervisory and technical skills.  Tori Palmer, ext. 4302, can provide additional information regarding the programs as well as facilitate the registration process.
