The Publick Musick, an ensemble of flute,violin, cello, harpsichord and soprano, will perform music by Bach and Telemannon Friday, Feb. 9, at 8 p.m., in Wellin Hall of the Schambach Center for Musicand the Performing Arts. Admission is free and open to the general public.

Inspired by The Private Musick, the instrumental ensemble employed by KingJames II of England during the late 17th century, The Publick Musick appearsboth as a chamber ensemble and orchestra. Formed in 1990, this unique groupperforms music of the 17th and 18th centuries using historical instruments andperforming practices. The ensemble's members are noted soloists and haveperformed and recorded with many leading North American and European earlymusic ensembles, including Tafelmusik, Concert Royal and The London ClassicalPlayers. They have performed across the northeastern United States and willrecord a CD of Telemann concertos and sonatas this summer.

Members of the ensemble include Andrea Folan, Brian Brooks, Laura Kramer,David Yearsley and Steven Zohn, who is currently visiting assistant professorof music at Hamilton.
