President George W. Bush does not want history to repeat itself when it comes to re-electing sons of former presidents...
Philip Klinkner, a historian at Hamilton College in New York, says Bush has a lot easier task than Adams, who he says was facing a cultural change toward populism, of which Jackson was the leader and beneficiary. "Jackson was part of a movement reshaping politics and society. There was no way to stop it. Bush has the political environment. He can steer for the middle. That's what the majority of Americans want."
