The Theatre Department will stage six performances of Charles L. Mee's Big Love beginning Thursday, April 17. The play, directed by Associate Professor of Theatre Craig Latrell, is a zany rehash of the ancient play, The Suppliant Women, where 50 sisters flee arranged marriages to their 50 cousins.

In Big Love, the sisters who originally functioned as a chorus, are rendered as three distinct voices: the militant Thyona, the romantic Olympia and the conflicted Lydia. They present a startling picture of the relations of men and women, and the nature of love, in our time. This is a transcendent theatrical journey full of joy, sadness, rage, humor and wisdom.

The cast includes Caroline Nixon '08, Lindsey Pearlman '08, Hannah Fazio '10, Nick Fesette '09, Silvio Cuadra '09, Adam Bauer '10, Katie Myers '08, Jo Jo Giovannangeli '08, James Greisler '10, Shelley Hoy '10, Amy Tannenbaum '10, Diana Stern '10, Juan Hurtado '11 and Stephen Michel '10.

The play will be staged on April 17-18 and April 23-26 at 8 p.m., as well as a matinee on Saturday, April 19, at 2 p.m. All performances are in Minor Theater. For reservations call 859-4057.
