Calm seas and beautiful sunrise with clear skies
During the night we exited the Straits of Magellan and turned south along the east coast of Tierra del Fuego.
Tierra del Fuego, "Land of Fire" was named for the many campfires seen by Magellan during his explorations between 1519 and 1522. Tierra del Fuego is a large island which is roughly half Chilean and half Argentinean. The Beagle Channel forms the southern boundary of the island and most of the cruise ships that travel to the Antarctic leave from here, the large town of Ushuaia Argentina.
Around dinner time tonight we will be passing the southern tip of Tiera del Fuego and cape on the Isla Hornos.
