Assistant Professor of Hispanic Studies Xavier Tubau recently received grants for two projects.
The first, a Franklin Research Grant from the American Philosophical Society, will support his archival work in the collections of the Archivo General de Simancas in Spain. The work is needed to complete his book on political propaganda during the Empire of Charles V (1519-56).
The second grant was given by the Central New York Humanities Corridor from an award by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Tubau and Alejandro García-Reidy of Syracuse University are co-principal investigators on a new working group focusing on early modern Spain. The funds will be used for the travel expenses of two invited speakers who will participate in a workshop in the fall.
