Barbara Warnick, a professor in the department of communication at the University of Washington will present a lecture titled "A Rhetorical Approach to Candidate Campaign Sites on the World Wide Web" on Monday, April 7 at 11 a.m. in List 106. Warnick is a past editor of the Quarterly Journal of Speech and the author of Critical Literacy in a Digital Era: Technology, Rhetoric, and the Public Interest.

The book considered writings in Wired magazine, political parody Web sites, and cyber publications and Web sites. Its case studies indicate that new media technologies become accepted not only through their use, but also through the rhetorical use of discourse on and about them. The lecture is sponsored by the Department of Rhetoric and Communication.
