Zhuoyi Wang.
Associate Professor of East Asian Languages and Literatures Zhuoyi Wang was recently interviewed by the French-German channel ARTE as a scholar interviewee for Reinventing China, a three-part documentary series on the modern history of China to be broadcast on the channel later this year.

Conducted in Paris in March, the one-day interview covered dozens of questions on the history of China from the 19th century to the present day.

In December 2021, Wang was also interviewed for the making-of documentary film of the new musical Shanghai Sonatas in New York City. The musical tells a lesser-known story of the Jewish refugees who sought asylum in Shanghai during World War II, sharing friendship and classical music with local Chinese people across the cultural barrier. Wang is a part of the musical’s creative team as its history and comparative literature advisor.
