Associate Professor of Africana Studies Nigel Westmaas presented a paper “Navigating the personal and political in social activism across two lived experiences” at the “Protest and Dissent” conference in Vienna, Austria, on Dec. 1.
Westmaas explored the concept “the personal is political” through the lens of his own comparative experience and engagement in social protest, general political organizing and “scholar activism” in two geographical and demographic settings, Guyana, and the USA.
