This week brought about the first really warm weather of spring. The city seemed to come alive on Thursday, and by Friday when the temperatures were pushing 70, everyone took to the streets. Instead of taking the subway all the way home from midtown, I decided to walk from Bleecker Street through SoHo all the way down town. The streets were packed and the vibe was great. Everyone seemed to be excited about the nice weather and the upcoming weekend. Although the good weather did not start until Thursday, we were privileged on Wednesday to enjoy the Whitney Museum of American Art Biennial Exhibit.

The Biennial is an exhibit that features new and upcoming artists. This year's exhibit had a strong political theme. It was refreshing to finally see young people getting involved in the political happenings of the time. The current political climate mirrors that of the late 60s. Although there are many differences between the two time periods, I believe that there are parallels, and the artists in this year's biennial seem reflect that in their art. Although the works touched upon serious political ideals, there was still an upbeat feel. Overall it was a great experience. The summer ahead will be a time of protest and change, and the biennial exhibit is at the forefront of this upcoming political season.
