The Hamilton College (3-6, 1-3 UCAA) women's lacrosse team was defeated by Skidmore College (9-1, 4-1 UCAA), 14-13 this afternoon in Upstate Collegiate Athletic Conference play. Freshman Lauren Thomsen (Berwyn, PA) led Hamilton with seven goals.
The first half was pretty evenly matched accept for the score. Skidmore converted seven of 10 shots into goals, while Hamilton scored four out of nine shots that made it on net. Skidmore tallied the first three goals of the game as Jackie Flanagan (Shushan, NY), Bridget OÕConnor (Longmeadow, MA) and Taryn Howard (Littleton, NH) each tallied an unassisted goal. Lauren Thomsen scored the first of her seven goals at the 22:58 mark, making it 3-1 Skidmore. Manuella DeBarros (New York, NY) and Kristin Dutcher (Wellesley, MA) each scored, giving the Thoroughbreds a 5-1 lead half way through the first half. Katie McKeon (Stamford, CT) and Molly Plummer (Westwood, MA) both netted goals, cutting Skidmore's lead to 5-3 Skidmore rattled off two straight goals, making it seven three before Thomsen struck again with 3:35 to go in the half, making it 7-4 Skidmore.

Taryn Howard scored twice and Liza Gorman (Cabin John, MD) scored once, giving Skidmore a five-goal lead at 10-5. Thomsen cut the lead to 10-6 with her fourth goal of the game with 23:28 remaining in the half. Katie McKeon made it 10-7 Skidmore as HamiltonÕs offense began to really click. After Kristin Dutcher scored to make it a four-goal lead Sarah Bardenett (Syracuse, NY) scored twice, making 11-9 Skidmore. The Thoroughbreds would not be denied as Howard and O'Connor each scored, giving Skidmore a 13-9 lead with 12:40 remaining. Hamilton would not give up without a fight as Thomsen scored with 8:02 remaining, cutting the Skidmore lead to three goals. With 5:34 remaining in regulation Manuella DeBarros scored, giving Skidmore a 14-10 lead. Hamilton, however, was not done as Bardenett and Thomsen tallied three straight goals, the last coming with 55 seconds remaining by Thomsen to cut the lead to 14-13. Skidmore was able to control the draw and run out the clock for the win.
