De Bao Xu, professor of Chinese, is collaborating with the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) on a grant-funded project to support Chinese language instruction in elementary schools. The project is funded by a three-year U. S. Department of Education Foreign Language Assistance Program (FLAP) grant. It will be used to support Hamilton students teaching Chinese language and culture courses at K-5 programs in the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES school districts, and Hamilton faculty’s coordination with BOCES school districts’ Chinese language teachers.
The grant funds were awarded in 24 states to local education agencies working in partnership with higher education institutions.
