Professor of East Asian Languages and Literatures Zhuoyi Wang was recently appointed a director of the Shanghai Sonatas Foundation (SSF). As stated on its website, the SSF is a non-profit (501c3) organization that “promotes the awareness of the Holocaust, genocide, and racial and gender-related violence from a brand new perspective, and shares the lesser-known history that inspired the creation of Shanghai Sonatas, a new American musical about resilience, empathy, and cultural understanding.”

Volume With Wang’s Chapter Recognized with NETPAC Award

The Routledge Companion to Asian Cinemas, which features a chapter by Professor of East Asian Languages and Literatures Zhuoyi Wang, has been honored with the NETPAC 1st Aruna Vasudev Award for Best Book on Asia. The award, presented by the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC), was announced on Feb. 18 at the 31st Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinemas.
