Professor of East Asian Languages and Literatures Zhuoyi Wang was recently appointed a director of the Shanghai Sonatas Foundation (SSF). As stated on its website, the SSF is a non-profit (501c3) organization that “promotes the awareness of the Holocaust, genocide, and racial and gender-related violence from a brand new perspective, and shares the lesser-known history that inspired the creation of Shanghai Sonatas, a new American musical about resilience, empathy, and cultural understanding.”
Omori Publishes Book Review in Pacific Affairs
Kyoko Omori, associate professor of East Asian Languages and Literatures (Japanese), published a book review of The Culture of the Sound Image in Prewar Japan in the September 2022 issue of Pacific Affairs hosted by The University of British Columbia, Vancouver.

Teaching Film from the People’s Republic of China, co-edited by Professor of East Asian Languages and Literature Zhuoyi Wang, was published by the Modern Language Association as part of its Options for Teaching series.
