‘Twas the Night Before Christmas

By Jenna McCarthy

'Twas the night before Nepal, when all through the dorm

Some students were stirring, outside of the norm

Our duffels were packed, stuffed full of mountaineering gear

In hopes that the bus to JFK soon would be here

Although we weren’t nestled all snug in our twin XL beds,

Daydreams of Himalayan mountains still danced in our heads

And Andrew Jillings in his orange, and I in my pajamas,

Had finally settled down waiting for a flight that isn’t to the Bahamas

It’s true that as I write this, we are waiting at the JFK airport to board our 12-hour flight to Dubai, where we will then proceed to catch our next flight to Kathmandu, Nepal.

I’ve been up since 2:30 AM to get on the bus that departed campus at 3:00 AM. The bus ride to JFK was 4.5 hours, so we’ve all been here at the airport since 7:30 AM. Unfortunately, the bus heater was broken, so it was a cold 4.5 hours.

We checked-in, made it through security, grabbed some breakfast, went to the bathroom, and filled up our water bottles. Feeling ready for the next leg of our expedition!

HAPPY NEPAL 2023 TO ALL, AND TO ALL SAFE TRAVELS OVER SPRING BREAK!

XOXO,
