Event Description

Professor Zhuoyi Wang presents Filmmaker Iris Yang and her film The Returning Tide: Thirty Years On

Yang’s film revisits the legacy of the Fourth United Nations World Conference on Women, held in Beijing in 1995, through the voices of more than twenty feminist activists across East Asia.

Thirty years later, the film asks what sustains connections across borders and generations, and what keeps the tide returning again and again.

Iris Yang is a researcher, journalist, and documentary filmmaker. Her work explores how people continue to find the energy and possibilities for action in times of political repression.

F.I.L.M. events are are held in the Bradford Auditorium, Kirner-Johnson 125 and are free and open to the public.
