Event Description

After spending 24 years helping to lead the Seattle (and Washington) clinical and public health response to HIV/AIDS, Dr. Bob Wood retired in 2010 and became volunteer medical director for Compassion & Choices of Washington. Now, his work with compassion takes most of his so-called retirement time, assisting 40 state-wide volunteers, three other medical directors, and serving about 600 clients, 300 of whom died last year. Compassion & Choices educates, advocates, and assists terminally ill adults to understand and pursue the option of using the Washington's Death with Dignity Law to obtain prescriptions for lethal medicines to short-circuit the end. In this talk, Dr. Wood will give us insights into his work and mission to help individuals make informed decisions at the end of life. This event is sponsored by the Class of 1965 and is open to all.
