Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda is Next Guest in Sacerdote Great Names Series
Hamilton College is thrilled to help celebrate the 10th anniversary of Hamilton by welcoming its composer, creator, and star Lin-Manuel Miranda as the next guest in the Sacerdote Great Names series. Miranda began writing Hamilton in 2008 after reading Ron Chernow’s biography of Alexander Hamilton. The writing and development process continued until the musical’s premiere in 2015. Hamilton was awarded the 2016 Pulitzer Prize in Drama and earned a record-breaking 16 Tony nominations and 11 Tony Awards.
The Sacerdote Series is named in recognition of a significant gift from the family of Alex Sacerdote, a 1994 Hamilton graduate. Other speakers in the series have included Barack Obama, Venus Williams, Tina Fey, Aretha Franklin, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Derek Jeter, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Condoleezza Rice, Jon Stewart, Madeleine Albright, Colin Powell, Jimmy Carter, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Lady Margaret Thatcher, Susan Rice, F.W. deKlerk, and David Cameron.
