Event Description
What if wars could be stopped before they started? Join us as Bob Worden ’76, an award-winning arbitrator and mediator, presents ideas from his book, How to Stop Wars and Save the World: Lessons in Negotiation, Settlement and Leadership. Using his training in finding resolutions, he delves into the factors that interfered with early resolution of the Revolutionary War, Civil War, and Vietnam War. He will explain how leaders in these wars failed to keep open minds to understand the opposition position, failed to anticipate the consequences of fighting, and were unable to anticipate postwar losses that weighed on all sides long after the battles were done. Bob and his book teach us settlement skills helpful in resolving all types of disputes.
